Dr. Nicky Wessel
Meet Dr. Nicky
Nicky Wessel received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from Iowa State University in 2005. After graduation, Nicky completed two surgical and lameness internships. Purdue University offered great experience in general medicine and surgery, providing many diverse illnesses and situations for her to learn from. The second internship was a surgical rotation at a busy equine hospital in Wilamette, Oregon. This second opportunity for an internship provided Nicky with exactly what she was looking for to complete her already extensive education. Shortly after moving to Illinois, she found her passion and started Cutting Edge Equine.
Nicky has concentrated on equine sports medicine and has a natural gift for diagnosing and treating lameness issues. Her skills also give her the ability to treat neuromuscular and other musculoskeletal problems. She is also skilled in internal medicine and dentistry. She applies her knowledge and her people friendly manner to educate her clients providing the best possible experience for all owners and trainers.
Nicky and her husband Tyson live in Woodstock with their sons Kolton and Parker. She loves spending time at the baseball fields with the boys and watching them play. She enjoys her horses and dogs at their small farmette.
Shelley Remensnyder
Meet Shelley
Shelley has been part of our team since 2016. Shelley’s compassion for all animals is seen easily while she is at work with your horses or while she “disappears” to find the friendly barn cats.
Shelley, her husband Mike and daughter Charlotte can be found on any nearby soccer field on the weekends.
If Shelley is not on the field she can be found in the barn where she rides all disciplines from eventing to barrel racing.
Elana Menge
Meet Elana
Elana has been part of our team since 2019. She is a very compassionate technician towards the horses and clients.
Elana enjoys spending time at her lake house during the summer fishing and isn’t afraid to layer up for some good ice fishing up north in the winter.
Elana also has a cute little kitty she adores!

We are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for emergencies.

We do not use a call service. Our office phone is immediately forwarded to the doctor on call for more immediate response.
